Your favorite childhood super heroes like Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, along with the rest of the Justice League, are teaming up to fight hunger in the Horn of Africa.

DC Entertainment and parent company Warner Bros. Entertainment announced a multi-million-dollar campaign last month supporting the efforts of humanitarian aid organizations who are fighting the hunger crisis in the region. “We Can Be Heroes” will raise money for three nonprofits Save the Children, MercyCorps and International Rescue Committee, all who provide on-the-ground support where it is needed most.

Suffering from the worst drought and famine to the region in over 60 years, there are 13 million people in the Horn of Africa in need of critical assistance. In Somalia alone, there are 250,000 people on the brink of starving to death.

“This is a tragic situation affecting millions and millions of people. Everyone has the ability to be a part of the solution and efforts such as We Can Be Heroes help bring us closer to that goal,”

said Dr. Jill Biden, who visited refugees in Kenya in August and is committed to this effort.

“I commend the efforts of DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. and other organizations who are using their global reach to help raise awareness of the crisis.”
