A Few Tips as you prepare to travel this Holiday Season

As the holiday shopping season winds down and final preparations are being made for Santa’s big night, many people are starting to mentally prepare for their much-dreaded holiday airline flight. . . according to the Air Transport Association, nearly 40 million passengers are expected to travel by air in the three weeks surrounding the this year’s winter holidays. As you ponder the airport traffic, pray for the up-coming weather report, and anticipate the lines at the airport security screening stations, (with the other 1.8 million passengers flying each day with you), representatives from the TSA would like to share the following obscure tidbits:

Foods: Pies are permitted, but they are subject to additional screening if the inspecting officer sees any anomalies. Additional screening of pies does not include the inspecting officer tasting the pie, no matter what they tell you, (this according to the TSA Blog).

Gifts: If you travel with wrapped gifts, you may be asked to unwrap them. If there’s something in the gift that needs to be inspected, the TSA is required to open it. The officers will try their best not to mangle the gift wrap, but it’s not a guarantee, and it absolutely slows down the line for everybody else when they have to do this over and over again. To avoid upset, it is best to travel with paper, ribbon and transparent tape and wrap the presents at your final destination.

Snow Globes: Snow globes are not permitted in your carry-on luggage. They are sealed containers full of liquid that would have to be opened and destroyed to test. The TSA is not in the business of busting snow globes, so you are advised to place them in your checked baggage or mail them ahead of time.

Doing so benefits your event in three ways: Increase revenue: Double, triple, or quadruple your profit on a single package. It's a win-win: Making Bidders happy means making your nonprofit happy.
