And the Winner is... Most Visited U.S. Destination in 2013

Orlando Florida - Most Visited Destination

It’s the Big Apple vs. the Sunshine State. For the first time, Orlando sits at the top of the list for the “Most Visited U.S. City”, edging out New York City. Both cities welcomed record numbers of visitors in 2013, with Orlando at 59 million visitors and New York City at slightly over 54 million.

The Wizarding World of Harry PotterWhy the change of heart? Has Disney World become more popular than Rockefeller Center? While New York City draws more international visitors, Orlando is a magnet for repeat visitors. Amusement parks strategically update their attractions (think Harry Potter World at Universal Orlando), giving visitors a reason to return every few years.

And don’t forget the weather: the sun shines almost year-round in Orlando. Especially at this time of year, when the spring bulbs can’t decide if it’s warm enough to bloom or if they should stay hidden until the danger of the last frost has passed, a dose of sunshine sounds mighty tempting. Spring break brings visions of bathing suits and swimming pools. Florida beckons.

That’s not to say that NYC has lost its appeal. Millions visit here every year to enjoy the sights and sounds in “the city that never sleeps”. Whether taking in a Broadway show (The Book of Mormons is still a hot ticket; so is Les Mis), enjoying the culinary scene, or visiting some of the most iconic historic landmarks in the world , there is no shortage of things to do and see here.

Whether looking for a romantic getaway or the perfect family vacation, both cities are attractive for people of all ages.

Have you considered offering trips to destinations such as Orlando and New York City in your next live or silent auction event or raffle? It’s a great way to raise funds for your organization while offering your patrons something they will really appreciate.

For years our team here at Winspire has been putting together trips in these cities and many more that your organization can use on a no-risk basis in your next fundraising event.
