Posted by Summy Lau

We are thrilled to announce the winner of Winspire's third Donation Give-Away drawing of 2017!

Congratulations goes to Rachel Honegger, Event Consultant for the annual MS Carnivale and auction benefiting the Central Illinois Multiple Sclerosis Clinic Fund. This charitable organization provides excellence in multiple sclerosis care to patients and families in need.

It's our honor to be able to donate a $1,000 Four Seasons gift card for their use in an upcoming fundraiser.

After the drawing, we reached out to Honegger to find out more about the cause and how the prize will be used to generate much-needed revenue. Check out the full story below, plus get a sneak peek at our next giveaway!

Fighting MS

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease that attacks the central nervous system, impairing cognition, vision, movement and more. More than 450,000 people in the U.S. have been diagnosed with MS, and over 20,000 reside in the state of Illinois alone.

Thankfully, there is hope for people living with MS to improve their quality of life.

The vision of the Central Illinois MS Clinic is to be a nationally recognized leader in multiple sclerosis care and research. To the Clinic, excellence in care includes diagnostic testing, evaluations and physical therapy, as well as patient face-to-face time with a dietitian, social worker, and MS Certified nurse - all done with professionalism and compassion. They also organize couples' retreats, fundraising walks and other events to strengthen the MS community in central Illinois.

Annual MS Carnivale

"The annual MS Carnivale began over 15 years ago in Peoria, Illinois," Honegger shares. "It started as the National MS Society but our local committee has since taken it over, and all the money stays local for our MS patients."

Each February, the Carnivale walks donors down the streets of Rio, providing live music, bourbon tasting, classic Brazilian dishes, local artists, magicians & more.

Along with fun, the focus is kept on fundraising. The program includes many different revenue generators, including a live auction, silent auction, fund-a-need, raffles and more.

"The highlight of the evening is always the live auction," Honegger says. Sophisticated donors attending the MS Carnivale have been eager to spend some of their annual travel dollars on Winspire auction items.

"Winspire has been so amazing since the first day I picked up the phone and inquired about their services," Honegger asserts. "Our guests love the unique experiences as well as the amazing vacation packages." They've successfully sent dozens of winning bidders to Cancun, Napa Valley, New Orleans and more.

In 2017 alone, the MS Carnivale raised a whopping $63,000. This funded services for 21 patients, 5 home improvements, 10 out-of-network office visits, 5 treatments, and 6 medical equipment purchases - all of which will drastically improve the quality of life for patients throughout Central Illinois.

Strategy that Can Double & Triple Revenue from One Auction Item

Consignment travel packages can be extremely lucrative for your nonprofit, providing the ability to sell incredible trips multiple times, at no risk to you or your organization. Doing so benefits your event in three ways: Increase revenue: Double, triple, or quadruple your profit on a single package. It's a win-win: Making Bidders happy means making your nonprofit happy. Capture secondary bidders: Why have one winner when you can have multiple? Having more than one of the same auction items means there is no second place. Doubling up enables your auctioneer to capture additional revenue from more people.   It's easier to pull off than you might think!
