Connie Mattos is excited to be donating the Fairmont Scottsdale 2-Night Stay with Championship Golf to the Child Advocacy Center in Fort Collins, CO for use in their next fundraiser. The Child Advocacy Center is a Nonprofit whose mission it is to reduce trauma to children and their families through a comprehensive response to child abuse. From the CAC website, www.larimercac.org: "Our vision is to eliminate child abuse through prevention and education. Where we cannot, all victims will receive comprehensive and compassionate services from an effective team of professionals." The CAC conducts forensic interviews with children who have allegedly been abused, or who have been possible witnesses to violent crimes; provides support services, mental health and medical exam referrals to families; holds community trainings on child abuse issues; conducts both a school (Talking About Touching) and community based (Steward’s of Children) prevention program.

Detroit Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford surprised patrons last weekend at the Griese-Hutchinson-Woodson Champions for Children's Hearts auction event, when he won a Monday Night Football Package that included tickets to his own game, beating other interested parties with a $15,000 bid. The event was raising money for the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, and had many patients in attendance. Prior to the auction, Stafford had spent time befriending Mott's patient Faith Falzone and her brother Will - both big Detroit Lions fans. After winning the package, Stafford promptly turned to Will and gave him the entire MNF package, saying, "There you go buddy, you go to Chicago, and take your family."

We are thrilled to recognize one of our very own here at Winspire for his truly amazing accomplishment. Dana Weber, Winpsire's Director of Operations, recently won the 2012 Orange County Vision Quest Mountainbike Race, beating a two-time Olympian in the process. While we knew Dana was an avid rider - rolling into work almost every morning on his bike following a 40 mile(!) trek from home - none of us knew he was such an epic weekend warrior!
